About Popular Mechanics

Popular Mechanics is an American-based magazine focused on the topics of popular science and technology news and information, including automotive, home, outdoors, electronics, science, do-it-yourself, and technology topics. Military, aviation, space transportation, and tools and gadgets are often featured in the magazine as well. The magazine was originally founded in 1902 by Henry Haven Windsor in Chicago as a once-per-month publication but is now published 10 times per year by the Hearst Communications publishing company which is based in New York City, New York. Popular Mechanics is published in English, Chinese, Spanish, and Russian and is available throughout the world. Popular Mechanics magazine had reached over 1 million readers in its circulation by 2017. Subscriptions to Popular Mechanics are available in 1 or 2-year subscription periods. One year, which includes 10 issues of the magazine, is available for $12.00 while a 2-year subscription includes 20 issues of the magazine and is available for $20.00. Both subscriptions use what Hearst refers to as the Continuous Service Program which automatically renews the subscription at the end of the 1 or 2-year period at the then-current rate for the subscription.
