Plated is a meal delivery kit service. It was founded in 2012 by Harvard Business School classmates Nick Taranto and Josh Hix. In 2013, founders appeared on an episode of famed show Shark Tank to pitch the idea. Eventually, a deal was made with an investor, Kevin O’Leary. The company has since then generated over $100M in revenue. In September 2017, the company was purchased by the grocery chain Albertsons for $200M. Albertsons started selling Plated kits in some of its stores in April 2018.
With Plated, you can sign up for various plans and choose between 20 new recipes each week. The Plated kits are tailored to your personal preferences, and it fits your meal plan whether you’re a seafood lover or even a vegetarian. Recipes are optimized for your schedule as well, with some recipes only taking 20-minutes to prepare. Plated prides itself on reliable deliveries. Each meal kit is packaged appropriately and handled with care. The insulated boxes are delivered right at your doorstep. There’s no need to stay home and wait for your delivery. The insulated box keeps food fresh up until midnight on the date of your delivery. You can adjust your delivery day and plan on a week-by-week basis.
You can choose the 2-servings plan, which will feed one adult and two kids, or just two adults. If you choose to receive the kit two nights per week, it is $47.80 per week. If you choose three nights, it is $71.70. And if you choose four nights per week, it is $95.60.
You can choose the 3-servings plan, which will feed two adults and two kids, or just three adults. If you choose to receive the kit two nights per week, it is $59.70 per week. For three nights per week, it is $89.55. If you choose four nights per week, it is $119.40.
If you have a larger family, you may want to choose the 4-servings plan, which will feed two adults and two teens. If you’d like two nights per week, it will be $79.60 per week. For three nights per week, it is $119.40. For four nights per week, it is $159.20.
