About Everyday With Rachael Ray Magazine

Rachael Domenica Ray (born August 25, 1968) is a chef, television personality, businesswoman, and author from the United States. She is the host of the syndicated daily talk and lifestyle show Rachael Ray, as well as the Food Network series 30 Minute Meals. Rachael Ray's Tasty Travels, $40 a Day, Rachael Ray's Week in a Day, and the reality shows Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off and Rachael Ray's Kids Cook-Off are among her other shows. Ray has published several cookbooks based on the 30 Minute Meals concept, and in 2006, she launched the magazine Every Day with Rachael Ray. Ray's television shows have received three Daytime Emmy nominations.

Ray, who prefers a "quick and easy" cooking style, teaches many simple recipes that she claims can be completed in 30 minutes or less, though critics argue that her concept excludes preparation time. Ray attributes her cooking to her Sicilian maternal grandfather, Emmanuel Scuderi, as well as her Cajun ancestry. She enhances flavors with fresh herbs, garlic, and chicken stock and believes that measuring "takes away from the creative, hands-on process of cooking." She prefers approximations like "half a palmful" or "two-pan swirl."

Ray responds to critics of her shortcut techniques by saying, "I don't have any formal qualifications. I've never been qualified for any job I've ever had." She has also stated repeatedly, "I am not a chef." She has used catchphrases such as "E-V-O-O" (extra-virgin olive oil), "yum-o," "G.B." (garbage bowl), "Oh my gravy!", "entertainer" (entre-sized appetizer), "stoup" (cross between a soup and a stew), and "choup" on her television shows (thicker than a soup but thinner than a chowder). The Oxford American College Dictionary added the term EVOO, short for extra-virgin olive oil, which Ray had helped popularize, and credited her with coining the phrase in 2007. Burgers are one of Ray's specialties. The Book of Burger is one of her published works on the subject.

Ray hosted 30 Minute Meals on Food Network for 11 seasons from 2001 to 2012, and the show will be revived in 2019. She agreed to host a syndicated daytime TV talk show in 2005. Rachael Ray's show premiered on September 18, 2006. The launch was fueled by recurring appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show, much like Dr. Phil's show was based on his frequent visits to Oprah. The show is being taped in New York City. "People know me for my love of food, but I have so much more I want to share," Ray said in conjunction with the syndication announcement.

Ray's television series Rachael's Vacation premiered on the Food Network on January 12, 2008. The show was a five-part food travelogue shot throughout Europe. Ray became a television executive producer of Viva Daisy!, a short-lived Latin cooking show on the Food Network starring Daisy Martnez, in 2008. Ray and Guy Fieri were team captains in the Food Network reality series Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off in January 2012. Ray appeared as a fictionalized version of herself in the second episode of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, a miniseries revival of Gilmore Girls, in 2016. Ray fulfilled a long-held ambition by voicing a cartoon character on the Nick Jr. show Butterbean's Caf in 2019. In 2021, Ray featured Canadian celebrity Gurdeep Pandher on her Rachael Ray Show.

Ray posed for the men's magazine FHM in 2003. Though she was not naked in any of the photos, this drew such harsh criticism, not least from Ray's mother, that Ray defended her decision to pose in the magazine in an interview with Cynthia McFadden, an ABC News correspondent, on March 2, 2009. "I'd do it again tomorrow," she said in the interview. On October 25, 2005, the Reader's Digest Association published Ray's magazine Every Day with Rachael Ray. In 2006, the magazine published seven issues, which increased to ten in 2007. Meredith Corporation purchased the magazine in October 2011.

Ray began working as a spokesperson for Nabisco crackers in November 2006. She can be seen in commercials and on the packaging of many Nabisco products. Many of the boxes with Ray's picture contain her recipes. Ray's sheets, blankets, and coverlets were introduced by WestPoint Home in February 2007. Within six months, WestPoint added the "Moppine," a two-in-one dish towel/oven mitt, to Ray's bed and bath linen, as Ray is frequently seen with a kitchen towel over her shoulder that doubles as an ersatz mitt.

Ray was named a celebrity endorser for Dunkin' Donuts in March 2007, primarily for its coffee, because she had previously denied being able to make coffee herself. Ray describes the company's coffee as "fabulous" in a promotional campaign. Ray's recipes were made available on AT&T cellular phones in May 2007 through the "Rachael Ray Recipes on the Run" feature.

Rachael Ray's "Nutrish" pet food was introduced in July 2008. Ray's pit bull, "Isaboo," inspired the recipes for the dog foods. All proceeds from the sale of these products go to Rachael's Rescue, a charity Ray founded specifically to help at-risk animals. PulteGroup launched the Rachael Ray Home Collection for their interior design division in December 2016. Ray designed all of the furniture that it sells.

Rachael's Day-to-Day Ray Magazine includes Ray's quick, inexpensive recipes as well as other useful content. This monthly publication (10 issues per year) focuses on low-cost fast meals. Ray is well-known for her 30-minute meals and never runs out of recipes that are quick and easy.
