FasTrak is an electronic toll collection system. The system is used in California on toll roads, toll bridges, high-occupancy toll lanes along the California Freeway and Expressway System. The first ETC system was installed in Dallas, Texas in 1989. In 1990, California State Legislature passed the Senate Bill 1523 to allow Caltrans to develop the system for the Freeway and Expressway System.
