Tinder is a location-based dating and hook-up website. It was founded in the fall of 2012 by Sean Rad, Jonathan Badeen, Justin Mateen, Joe Munoz, Alexa Mateen, Dinesh Moorjani, and Whitney Wolfe. By 2014, there were over a billion “swipes” per day on the Tinder app. Tinder is available on iOS devices, Android devices, and on the web. The website and app is available in over 40 languages. The developer of the app is Mike Wigger and Hatch Labs. The CEO is Sean Rad.
With Tinder, you are able to view pictures of other members and swipe left or right. Swiping left means that you don’t like the person. Swiping right means that you like the person. When you swipe right, the other person will be notified that you swiped right and like them. When signing up, you will need to sync your account with your Facebook profile. Your profile picture on Facebook will be your profile picture on Tinder. You will also be able to write a short biography of yourself. You can link your Instagram and Spotify account to your Tinder account. When you link your Instagram profile, people will be able to access your Instagram account. You will be able to do the same when you visit other people’s profiles who have linked their Instagram accounts. Common Connections is a feature that is divided into two-degree connections. The first-degree connection allows you to see whether you have mutual Facebook friends with whoever you match with. The second-degree connection allows you to see if your match has two separate friends who are friends with each other.
Tinder is free to use on a basic basis. Tinder Plus includes unlimited likes, rewind last swipe, 5 super likes per day, 1 boost per month, and passport to swipe around the word. Tinder Gold includes the same as Tinder Plus plus the ability to see who likes you. Tinder Plus is $9.99 per month for members under the age of 30 and $19.99 per month for members over the age of 30. Tinder Gold is an add-on to Tinder Plus and is $4.99 extra per month in addition to the Tinder Plus pricing.
